Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Floyd are presented a book of
memories by J. W. King as Charles Graham, principal of
Johnso11ville High School, looks on. The presentation was
made by the portait of Floyd which was unveiled at the
dedication of the H. M. Floyd Building~ A portion of the
new furniture p~rchased for the foyer was the remainder
of the funds from ••n. M. Floyd Day'' and school funds
may
be seen in the lower portion of photo .

Mr. and Mrs. Hector
McKinnon
Floyd
were
presented an albt1rn at 11 a.m.
on Wednesday, May 26th,
containing pictures and other
mementos of the dedication of
the ''H. M. Floyd Buil
'',
which now serves as the 111ain
plant of Johnsonville High
School. The dedication of the
new building was held Sunday,
Dece1nber 8, 1974 at 2:30 p.m.
The presentation of the alb11111
was made by J. W. King,
Chan·xnan of the Board of
Trustees, Florence County
School District Five.
Floyd gave 44 years of service
to the (.1Ciucation of children of
this state prior to his retireinent
in June, 1973; 37 of which were
given to the children of this
community as Superintendent
of the Johnsonville Schools.
Mrs. Floyd also gave 34 years of
service to the education of
children and youth prior to her
retirement in June 1972 for a
combined total of 78 years.
A ceremony honoring Floyd
was held Sunday, May 20, 1973,
and May 20th was designated by
the Mayor of Johnsonville as
''H. M. Floyd Pay.''
Floyd has expressed his
desire that the re:inaing funds
raised for the ''H. M. Floyd
Day'' by the H. M. Floyd Day
Committee, of which Mrs .
Lucille M. Eaddy served as

chaiiman, be used as partial
payment of the furniture for the
foyeJ' of the new high school.
The f111·1dture has
purchased and placed in the foyer
for use by the students.
